Ward R3
Ward R3 is a surgical ward that treats patients with orthopedic and trauma conditions, as well as patients after eye surgery. The ward has 30 beds, and its' activities focus on immediate pre-operative and immediate post-operative care.
Tissue and musculoskeletal diseases and injuries are treated at Ward R3 when they require surgery and the patient needs inpatient care. Joint replacements, revision surgeries, and major spinal surgeries are typical procedures for patients treated at the ward.
The majority of patients are invited to surgery after a clinic visit. Some patients come directly through Akuutti24. The first goal of follow-up care is home care. Hip replacement patients are usually discharged home 1-3 days after surgery, and spine surgery patients typically stay in the hospital for an average of 2-4 days. If the situation warrants, patients are transferred to follow-up care at their own health center.
