The Department of Neuroradiology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is one of Sweden's largest and most specialized unit, performing approximately 34,000 diagnostic examinations annually. It is a regional leader in stroke care, advanced trauma care, neurosurgery, and other neurological interventions. The department is continuously evolving, particularly in the fields of MRI and intracranial PET/CT diagnostics, and offers excellent opportunities for scientific research and academic development

You will work in newly built, well-equipped facilities at the BOIC – Image and Intervention Centre, designed to support advanced imaging and intervention. Their dynamic environment provides excellent opportunities to take part in research projects and to pursue admission to doctoral programs, with strong integration across medical disciplines. You will also have access to state-of-the-art imaging technology, enabling high-quality diagnostic and interventional work. 

The position involves MRI and CT diagnostics of both acute and chronic conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as the head and neck region. You will participate in clinical rounds, on-call rotations, and multidisciplinary team conferences, collaborating closely with colleagues from various specialties. Experience with ultrasound of the neck is considered an advantage but is not a requirement. Teaching medical students and radiology residents is an essential part of the role and a shared responsibility among all physicians in the department. 

Sahlgrenska University Hospital is looking for a board-certified diagnostic neuroradiologist, or a radiologist with a strong interest in subspecializing in neuroradiology, with the intention of continuing at our department after completing the training. You are an enthusiastic and forward-thinking professional who enjoys working in an international and collaborative team. You have proven expertise in interpreting imaging of the central nervous system and ENT region, a genuine interest in education and clinical development, and a team-oriented mindset supported by strong communication skills..

Positions are open for radiologists who are already subspecialized in diagnostic neuroradiology, as well as from radiologists with a strong interest in pursuing subspecialization in this field.


The employer offers:

  • A monthly salary, with the base starting at approximately €6000. The final amount will be determined individually based on your skills and professional experience and will be confirmed once you obtain a license to practice as a doctor in your specialty.

We expect you to have:

A license to practice your profession as a specialized doctor within the field of medicine, granted by the authorities of a European Union country.

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience practicing your profession after finalizing your specialization.

A commitment to participate in free-of-charge language training provided in your home country with a goal to reach a minimum of B2 level of the target language (Swedish) at the end of the training. After your arrival in Sweden, you will continue studying to reach a C1 level.
