The unit has two operating rooms, and cataract surgeries under local anaesthesia are performed one to four days a week. The unit has nurses that have been specifically trained to perform intravitreal injections. These nurses perform the injections under the guidance and instruction of doctors.

Each staff member works independently while also working as part of a multidisciplinary team. In addition to the nurses, the unit has an optometrist. The job description of specialist doctor includes guiding and teaching specialising doctors. Specialist doctors are also involved in the further training of the unit’s care staff.
