Join the Radiotherapy Department at Skåne University Hospital in Lund - one of Sweden’s oldest cities, renowned for its historic university, vibrant academic life, and timeless charm.
You will join one of Sweden’s largest radiotherapy centers, providing:
• External beam radiotherapy
• Brachytherapy
• Isotope therapy
The team also participates in the national proton therapy collaboration, planning selected patients for treatment in Uppsala.
You will work alongside 15 specialist physicians, many of whom combine clinical duties with research and are active in national and international radiotherapy collaborations. The department also runs a national radiotherapy course for oncology residents (ST doctors).
The Radiotherapy Section is part of the Department of Hematology, Oncology, and Radiation Physics, a highly specialized organization with approximately 900 employees, working closely with Lund University in a research-intensive academic environment.
The department is modern and continuously evolving, offering a highly advanced technical environment that includes:
• 10 linear accelerators
• 2 HDR brachytherapy afterloaders
• Low-voltage X-ray unit
• MR Linac scheduled for installation in September 2026, supporting both clinical care and research

The Region of Skåne offers:
Swedish language training up to C1 before you relocate
Permanent, full-time position (40 hours/week)
A monthly gross salary starting from €6,900-7,600 EUR (SEK 73,000-80,000).for specialist doctors and €8,500-9,500 EUR (SEK 90,000-100,000) for senior consultants. The final salary will be set individually, based on your qualifications and professional experience, and confirmed once you have obtained your Swedish medical license in your specialty. An annual salary review is included.
Working hours: Daytime schedule (Mon–Thu 08:00–16:45, Fri 08:00–15:30). Saturday work every 6–8 weeks with additional compensation. Flexible hours apply; overtime is compensated for specialist physicians.

Your role:
Your primary focus will be external beam radiotherapy, with flexibility to develop your role based on your interests. Possible focus areas include specific diagnostic groups, brachytherapy, or work related to the upcoming MR Linac project.You will handle clinical responsibilities such as referral assessment, outpatient consultations, target delineation (around 100 patients per week), support during CT/MR/PET preparation and treatment, and participation in target/dose planning and multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs).
In addition to clinical work, you will contribute to quality improvement and organizational development, and supervise residents (ST doctors) and students. The position is primarily clinical, with the option to combine it with research.
We expect that:
• You have a license to practice your profession as an oncologist in any EU/EEA member country.
• You preferrably have at least 2 years of experience within the profession.
• You commit to the free-of-charge language training provided in your home country with a goal to reach a C1 level of the target language (Swedish) at the end of the training.
