Örebro University Hospital, located in the center of the country, is one of the largest hospitals in Sweden. It is a modern tertiary care teaching hospital, and several of its specialist areas have attracted international attention.

As a nephrologist at Örebro University Hospital's kidney clinic, you will examine and treat patients with acute and chronic kidney diseases, as well as kidney transplant patients and kidney donors. The clinic does not perform kidney transplantations, but it works closely with other hospitals that do. You will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical research and mentor and teach medical students and residents.

Landing to Region Örebro Nephrology

The nephrology unit consists of the nephrology clinic, with usual duties including care of transplant recipients. Additionally, there is a ward with 14 patient beds, of which normally 7 beds are allocated for nephrological patients. A specialist doctor has round responsibility for this ward. The hospital also has a dialysis department, which is open 7 days a week. Your work will be divided among three different units:

The outpatient clinic: This is where mainly kidney transplant patients are treated, but also other chronic kidney disease patients for checkups and other care.

The hospital ward: This is where nephrological patients are admitted for hospital care.

The dialysis unit: This is where patients with kidney failure receive dialysis treatment

START SALARY

Salary quoted gross, i.e. BEFORE taxes and social contributions as a starting salary  This salary is paid as a minimum, without shift work, after you have received your Swedish license to practice your profession as a specialist doctor.The final salary level will be determined based on your work experience

Any shift work (bank holidays and inconvenient hours) will be paid in accordance to the amount of such hours worked.

The benefits package includes e.g. health insurance, pension, generous paid time off and a 40-hour working week, leaving plenty of time and energy for personal pursuits and leisure activities.

Contract

full-time, permanent position with 40 hours per week working time

After recognition

After recognition of qualifications, a basic monthly salary starting from 67 000,00 SEK/ month before taxes & social constibutions (*please, see above).

Additional compensation

for inconvenient working hours (evenings, weekends, nights, holidays & overtime) and vacation time which are paid on top of the basic monthly salary if and when applicable.

Vacations

Minimum 25 days per year starting after the first full working year acting as basis for calculations.

The expectations

Qualifications

A specialist doctor degree in Nephrology or in Internal medicine with specialization in Nephrology

Records

A clean Criminal Record & Record of Good Standing as required by the Swedish Law

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of working experience in a unit that performs kidney transplantation examinations and care (it is not necessary that the actual kidney transplantations have been performed by the hospital)

Attitude

Good communication skills and ability to work in and be part of interdisciplinary team that consists of nurses, assistant nurses, doctors and other specialists doctors. 

On-call

Preparedness to participate in the periodic on-call service within nephrology, which means that a nephrologist at the hospital must be available until 9pm, including weekends.

Commitment to training

Commitment to a free-of-charge language training program, and to study a minimum 20 hrs per week in order to reach a C1 level of Swedish language at the end of the training

Commitment to relocation

Commitment to relocating and starting work in Sweden after reaching your target in language training

Commitment to relocation

EU citizenship OR a long-term residency in any of the EU member countries with a recognized & registered status of specialization, and minimum of 3 years of work experience from within the EU area after acquiring  the recognized & registered status of a specialist. 

Considered as a plus

 fluent English language skills. Intermediate English language skills are required. 


Additional specialization

An additional specialist certificate in internal medicine or another related specialty is considered as a plus
